hnybny: Gaming party weekend

FRAGS (Framingham Area Gamers Society) Gaming Party Weekend - February 22-24th

Once again muttstain is having his gaming party weekend and I've decided to make an effort to find all the cool gamer grrls and guys and tell them about it.
-------
muttstain of FRAGS (Framingham Area Gamers Society) announces:

Join me for a weekend of games and movies in Framingham starting at 7:30 PM Friday February 22nd and running through midnight Sunday night February 24th.

It's time for another weekend of games and movies.
I have been running these events 3-4 times a year for nearly 25 years. For those not familiar with the details, dinner is provided on Saturday night and I cook up a large pot of rather spicy chili, and many people are kind enough to contribute pizzas, chickens, and the like. Food donations are appreciated, though not required.

I have hundreds of board, card and party games to choose from, but feel free to bring your own. There's a 9-foot pool table, a retro video game library in the basement, featuring 100's of released and never-released games for the Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Colecovision, Odyssey 2, and Vectrex.

For people wanting a break from gaming, I have plenty of DVD's (over 2000), mostly cheesy B-grade horror movies. I have hundreds of them, or feel free to bring your own. Rob has offered to write another Haste Worte game for Saturday night.

There is plenty of crash space for people who want to stay over, as gaming often runs until 6:00 am on Friday and Saturday night.
As always, this event is open to members of MENSA, Unity Games, Meet-in-Boston, NECG and Bostongamers. If you aren't a member of these groups, drop an email to hnybny and she'll forward your request to attend.

archer823: Natick Collection

I went down to the "new" Natick Collection this weekend a few times to check it out / do a little bridal registry homework. My fiancee and I wandered the halls, just oggling the crowd and the ultra high end "luxury" brand stores. The whole scene made her think about how we as Americans really do live above our means to such a point that we're going to hit a recession sooner or later if we keep this up. Me? I thought about the OnPoint show that talked about luxury products, what they used to mean (actual high quality products that were worth the price for worksmanship and quality of raw goods) and what it means now (a corporate marketing / branding extravaganza where a bag now isn't handmade but out of a factory in China and one's charged multiple times as much for a similar bag with the same materials and labor costs just because it's branded a "luxury" label, I mean how nice can a $150 T shirt really be?). I mean I'm glad that there are nice restaurants at the Natick Mall that I could be proud to eat at and take out from, like Finale and Sel de la Terre, because food to me at a premium price is worth it. Clothes on the other hand? Are not. And I refuse to call it "the collection" I'm still going to call it the mall.

poziomka: Commuting in Framingham

An easy question from a newbie to the area.

I will be staying in Framingham for a few weeks and I need help figuring out the city's transit system. Unfortunately, all the bus schedules online are completely blurry.

Simple question: Does the bus system stop at the MBTA Commuter Rail? Is the stop obvious upon passing it? On the map, it looks like the bus stops *close* to the area, but not dead-on. Could someone help me out?

hnybny: Gaming/Movie weekend in Framingham August 31st, September 1st and 2nd

Matt of FRAGS (Framingham Area Gamers Society) announces:

Join me for a weekend of games and movies in Framingham starting at 7:30 PM Friday August 31st and running through midnight Sunday night September 2nd.

It's been awhile, so it's time for another gaming and movie weekend.
There seems to be something going on every week between now and the
end of the summer, and I know it's Labor Day weekend, but hopefully
some of you will be able to make it :) And this way, I'll have Monday
to recover!

I have been running these events 3-4 times a year for nearly 25 years. Anyway, the usual details apply. We start of Friday night at 7:30 and will run through until Sunday night. Dinner will be provided Saturday night. We'll do a large group game on Saturday as well. Not sure yet if it will be Poker again, but there's still time to decide. Crash space is available. Jerry has once again claimed the guest bed, but there's still a cot
and some couches and futons.

If the weather is nice, people can actually do outdoor games.

For people wanting a break from gaming, I have plenty of DVD's (over 1.700), mostly cheesy B-grade horror movies. I have hundreds of them, or feel free to bring your own. This time we have "Silverscream" (A Musical tribute to B-horror movies). Also for your viewing pleasure this time, I have "Kottentail" (Playboy playmates against a radioactive rabbit), ""My Dead Girlfriend" (A Zombie love story), and "Trees" (A Jaws spoof).

As always, this event is open to members of MENSA, Unity Games, Meet-in-Boston, NECG and Bostongamers. If you aren't a member of these groups, drop an email to hnybny and she'll forward your request to attend.

hnybny: Theft on Riverside line

PLEASE READ:

My fiance just got home from Riverside station. His bag was stolen on the D train between 10 and 11 PM. It was a thin zippered document pouch, black with his company name and info on the outside in a clear card sleeve. It says "Radiant Panel Association" on the bag in embroidery as well. Beyond the fact there were electronics and his brand new pair of sunglasses, there were irreplaceable documents that he'd been working over a year to have signed and completed. They had been signed....today. We are beyond crushed.

Please if you know someone who "found" a bag on this train by whatever means, please reply. At the very least, ask them for some decency and send the documents to the name on the bag.

We've already reported it to the MBTA and are in the process of reporting to the authorities.
